The famous foot claw was held up in the air, which would have helped keep it sharp. Whenever we find tracks from Velociraptor and its dromaeosaur relatives, there are no little marks made by the sickle-shaped claw. This tells us the dinosaur kept it elevated off the ground, presumably to keep it sharp.
